The Unified Theory of Human Cardiovascular Disease
Among the many diseases that threatens human mortality is cardiovascular disease. Globally, it is the number one cause of death and there have been campaigns to get people to start looking after themselves to prevent the disease. Linus Pauling Unified Theory
Linus Pauling is a name that always comes up with the mention of cardiovascular disease and how to prevent and treat them. The journey to discovering this theory began after Dr. Howard Bachrach (Southold New York) shared the results of an experiment with Linus and Matthias Rath while at the Linus Pauling institute of medicine.
The results showed that the use of lysine, vitamin C, or a combination of both led to the suppression of plaque caused by lipoprotein (a) binding to the walls of the arteries. The experiment to see how vitamin C deficiency could be reversed in guinea pigs to improve the condition.
During Linus Pauling’s 90th birthday, February 28, 1991, Rath had made a breakthrough in the experiment. He went ahead to inform Linus and other colleagues that vitamin C in the body regulated the amount of synthesized lipoprotein (a). Pauling together with Rath understood that Apolipoprotein A-1 and low-density lipoprotein were the cause of lipoprotein formation and that the vitamin C deficiency increased the rate of synthesis. They published this in the medical science research terming vitamin C as the answer. That is when the Unified Theory of Human cardiovascular disease began.
Following the theory, the two researchers expounded on their belief that cardiovascular disease is a result of low vitamin C. It also suggested that besides other risk factors, our inability to internally synthesis vitamin C contributed to the degenerative disease. Failure to produce ascorbic acid led to increased levels of lipoprotein (a) which despite helping the body in repairing damaged tissues, caused plaque formation. This consequently led to a stroke, heart attack, and angina.
Linus Puling and Rath went on to recommend an increase of vitamin C doses, other than the recommended federal government prescription, would be an efficient way to repair and strengthen artery walls while reducing the lipoprotein levels. Also, the move would lower the cholesterol levels in the blood since it converted it into bile acid in the hydroxylation process.
At this point, critics wanted proof of which Linus Pauling Institute didn’t have the funds to do research. However, their theory was supported by Dr. James Enstrom’s research in 1992 at UCLA. His research involved more than 11000 people. Among those who took the federally recommended vitamin C supplements, they had lower heart disease rates compared to those who did not take the supplements. Seeing this was in line with Linus Pauling’s unified theory, Dr. Enstrom’s team saw the possibility that increasing the vitamin C dose would have greater effects.
A year later, in 1993, Pauling added proof to his theory through a publication in the Journal of Orthomolecular medicine where the three case studies had cardiovascular disease patients and had undergone operations. The individuals added vitamin C and lysine in their diet as Pauling and Rath’s papers suggested.
The cases which had individuals consuming 3-6 grams of the supplements daily had positive feedback as most individuals experienced relief and their condition had improved.

While Linus offered us a low-cost remedy for the treatment of cardiovascular disease, some saw it as a controversy to bring other practices down. But the truth is, whether you prefer heart disease surgeries or the Pauling therapy, as it is called, they will both treat the condition. For Pauling therapy, however, testimonies have it that the therapy works within days and weeks and saves one lot of trouble.
